Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene Gauthe Bergeron; son and daughter- in-law, Ervin J. Jr. and Mary Bergeron; daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine B. and Morton Granier, Christine B. and David Trosclair, Louise B. and Francis Boudreaux, Sheryl B. and Larry Matherne and Suzette B. and George A. Williams; sister, Earline B. Ayo; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis A. and Emilie Ponvelle Bergeron; brother, Earl Louis Bergeron; and sisters, Beatrice Bergeron, Angelina Boudreaux, Emilena Phillip, Louise Bergeron and Anna Mae Fields. He was a member of American Legion Post 11, 40 and 8, 1038, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5097, Military Order Purple Heart 1955, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9, Woodmen of the World and a parishioner of St. Genevieve Church. Donations to American Legion Post 11, PO Box 532, Thibodaux, LA 70302 are preferred. Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
