Carter Sr., 50, a native and resident of Houma, died Nov. 14, 2004. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Resident Baptist Church in Houma. A religious service will be at noon Saturday at the church, with burial at Union Benevolent Cemetery in Houma. He is survived by his wife, Linda D. Carter of Houma; mother, Bernadine Carter of Houma; sons, Wendell Carter Jr., Shaft Carter, and Kendell Saulsberry of Houma; daughters, Kanesha Johnson, Kami Saulsberry, Rasheeda Dark, and Jyra Dark of Houma, and Wykenia Jones of Baton Rouge; sister, Jearnee Carter Dumas of Houma; brothers, Charles Carter IV, Bernard Carter, Gregory Carter, and Torrey Carter all of Houma; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Carter III. He was a member of Residence Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
