Jewell Courtney

Jewell Oleta "Nama" Courtney, 84, a native of Gorman, Texas and resident of 
Houma, died at 6 a.m. Oct. 21, 2004.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mulberry Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at 
St. Francis II Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, James "Larry" Courtney of Birmingham, Ala.; 
daughters, Chyrel Frens of Baton Rouge and Lydia Voigt of Houma; seven 
grandchildren; and seven great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.F. "Jack" Courtney; parents, George 
and Minnie Cox; sisters, Della Duncan, Mattie Standfast and Lillie Evans; and 
brothers, David, George and Dennis Cox.

Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of arrangements.
