Cheramie, 83, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 7:20 a.m. Sept. 27, 2004. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano. He is survived by his wife, Virginia C. Cheramie; daughters, Dianna C. Williams, Lou Ann C. Gaspard and Hazel C. Gaspard; brothers, Houston, Duroc and Ronald Cheramie; sister, Ella Mae C. Alario; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duard and Aza Hebert Cheramie; daughter, Helen C. Dugas; and brothers, Claudet and Eule Cheramie. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a retired boat captain and cattleman. Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano is in charge of arrangements.
