Visitation will be 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland. A religious service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Faye Marie Chambers of Raceland; stepdaughters, Roberta A. Chambers White and Sandra Chambers Robinson, both of Houma; brothers, Clifford Washington of New Orleans and Henry and Albert Williams of Raceland; sisters, Daisy Tolliver of Algiers, Julia Lewis of Killona and Maude Jones of Raceland; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Chambers; parents, Lucreda Hadley Washington and Major Williams; stepfather, Wilton Matthews Sr; sons, Wilbert and Herbert Chambers; brothers, Ulysess Williams, Anderson "Shorty" Williams and Wilton Matthews Jr; sisters, Dorothy Williams, Gladys Dallon, and Lucille Reed; one great-great-grandson. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She was a member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Young Ladies Benevolent Association. Her hobbies included cooking and sewing. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
