Taylor, 84, a native of Aberdeen, Miss., and resident of Thibodaux, died Aug. 31, 2004. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Legendre Taylor; son and daughters-in-law, James L. and Sandra Taylor; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynette T. and Kermit Cortez, Michele T. and Richard Benoit; sister, Virginia Sanders; and grandchildren, April, Michael, Robert, Jessica, Bryce, Dione, Shannon, Justin and Clayton; and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Elizabeth, Ethan, and one great- grandchild expected. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Beatrice Bean Taylor; brothers, William Earl, Claude "C.A." and Durley Taylor. He served in three wars. He was a retired school teacher. Donations to Thibodaux High School or E.D. White High School school libraries are preferred. Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
