The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ September 22. 2004 12:30PM Laverne Lawson [Photo] Laverne Lawson, 73, a native of Center, Texas, former resident of Raceland, and resident of Lake Charles, died Sept. 20, 2004. A funeral will be held at Watson Funeral Home in Center, with burial at Lone Cedar Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas. She is survived by her son, F.T. "Todd" Lawson and his wife Susan of Raceland; daughters, Vicki Romero Briggs and her husband Michael of Lindale, Texas and Donna Lawson Bonvillain and her husband George of Lake Charles; sister, Hattie Tomlin of Center; grandchildren, William "Billy" Lawson and David Todd Lawson, both of Raceland, Colleen Michelle Romero of Irving, Texas, Brooksie Leigh Bonvillain and George Philip Bonvillain, both of Lake Charles, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas George Lawson; parents, Talmadge and Delia Warr Andrews; brothers, Norris, Talvis and Ferris Andrews; and sisters, Don Peace and Brooksie Krutchinsky. She lived in Raceland for 40 years before moving to Lake Charles four years ago to be close to her daughter Donna and her family. She was a graduate of Center High School in Center. After raising her children , she devoted her time to owning and operating Raceland Ag Service with her son, Todd. She received her greatest pleasure from spending time with her grandchildren. She was fortunate to see her grandsons Billy and David grow up just down the street from her in Raceland. She was a special part of her granddaughter Colleen's childhood and enjoyed traveling with her to many interesting places in the U.S. and abroad. Her inspiration for moving to Lake Charles was to be close to her youngest grandchildren, Brooksie Leigh and George Philip. Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles is in charge of arrangements.
