Plaisance, 90, a native of Cut Off and resident of Galliano, died at 3 a.m. Sept. 5, 2004. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Clementine Cheramie Plaisance; son, Calvin J. Plaisance; daughter, Elaine Plaisance Callais; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Justilian and Emma Lee Plaisance; brothers, Sidney, Albert and Louis Plaisance; half brother, Justilian Plaisance; sisters, Louise Rodrigue Dufrene, Emily Pierce, Gladys Lassegne, Justillia "TeeYa" Esponge Charpentier and Alma Allemand. He was a third and fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He was a retired oysterman and the second Louisiana Oyster King. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
