Pitre, 80, a native and resident of Cut Off, died at 5:13 a.m. July 19, 2005. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. A Mass of Chrisitan burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his second wife, Emily Guidry Pitre; first wife, Romanda S. Pitre; son, Terry Pitre; stepsons, Fred Jr. and Thomas Pitre; stepdaughters, Katie Verret, Elaine Duet, Louise Pitre and Emily Pitre; sisters, Verilna Gisclair, Janet Lafont and Mabel Galjour; two grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by His parents, August and Alzina Danos Pitre; brothers, Hayman Pitre and Harold "T-Brown" Plaisance; and sister, Clara Vegas. He was a disabled veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and a former member of the Lions club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making people laugh. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
