The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ July 26. 2005 11:37AM Dale Rogers Sr. [Photo] Dale Patrick Rogers Sr., 72, a native of New Orleans, resident of Thibodaux and longtime resident of Lockport, died July 23, 2005. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Thibodaux Funeral Home Chapel. A religious service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial a t Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport. He is survived by his wife, Mary Gayle Roundtree Rogers; daughters, Michele Rogers Bower and Monique Roger Wood; brother, Gilbert Rogers; sister, Terry Rogers Zeller; and granddaughter, Caroline Mary Bower. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gillis and Edith Foret Rogers; stepfather, Luke Rogers; infant son, Dale Patrick Jr.; and grandmother, Clemelia Martin Foret. He was retired from the State Welfare Department and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was an enthusiastic preservationist working to document his Cajun heritage through his art, writings, music and theater. He donated his time and talents to many local organizations and tried to personally educate everyone he met on the rich culture of South Louisiana. Donations to the Thibodaux Playhouse or the Lafourche Heritage Society to help continue the entertainment and preservation which he so enjoyed are preferred.
