Visitation will be 6 to 8:45 p.m. today and 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma, with burial at St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery. He is survived by his son, John H. LaPeze III of Houma; daughters, Vickie Allgood of Social Circle, Ga., Audrey Eisengrein of West Haven, Conn., Sallie Preston of Houma, Jody Heeb of League City, Texas, Veronica "Ronnie" Bochat of Montgomery, Texas, and Missie Curth of Houma; brother, Ernest Lapeze of Plaquemine; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Vale Conaway LaPeze; parents, John Sr. and Lena Berthelot Lapeze; daughter, Beckie LaPeze; sisters, Lena Lawhon, Elda and Edna Lapeze; and four grandchildren. He was a retired dredging superintendent of 25 years with Berry Brothers, was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, past commander of the Disabled American Veterans and co-founder of the United Veterans Leage. He was a U. S. Army veteran during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. Donations to United Veterans League are preferred. Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of arrangements.
