Dauzat Jr., 63, a native of Marksville and resident of Houma, died of cancer Wednesday, June 29, 2005, surrounded by loved ones and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Bayou Blue. He is survived by his wife, Betty Boudreaux Dauzat of Houma; two daughters, Michele Dauzat Rivers and husband, Glenn, of Hessmer and Sandra Dauzat of Chalmette; one stepson, Kenny Duplantis of Houma; one stepdaughter, Kendra Duplantis of Houma; one brother, Dale Dauzat of Marksville; one sister, Carol Dauzat Pastor of Pineville; and seven grandchildren, Jace Duplantis, Khai Duplantis, Devin Duplantis, Mackensie Duplantis, David Smith Jr., Brandon Smith and Madison Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Landry Dauzat Sr. and Leona Marcotte. He was a retired Greyhound bus driver with 25 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Woodmen if the World. He was Catholic. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
