Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dempster Bourgeois; sons and daughters-in- law, Gary J. Bourgeois and friend Mary Cheramie; Wayne J. and Pat R. Bourgeois; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty "Jane" B. and Calvin J. Dufrene, Brenda B. and Reed A. Folse, Janice B. and Jerry J. Guidry; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beauregard and Alice Babin Bourgeois; brothers, Ulyess, Malcolm, Nolan and Wilton Bourgeois; sisters, Eunice B. Knight and Bernice B. Dufrene. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed rabbit hunting. Samart Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
