Velma Matherne

Velma L. Matherne, 92, a native and resident of Larose, died at 9:05 a.m. July 
18, 2005.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in 
Larose. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wedneday at the 
church, with burial at the church mausoleum.

She is survived by her second husband, Herman Matherne; son, Melvin Gaspard; 
daughters, Katherine Terrebonne and Bonnie Erickson; brother, Roy LeBlanc; 
sisters, Marie Hymel and Elma Kaiser; four grandchildren; five great-
grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leo Gaspard; parents, Abel and 
Valerie Acosta LeBlanc; daughter, Geraldine Gaspard; brothers Abel and Alvin 
LeBlanc; sisters, Wilma Guidry and Thelma Arabie.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano is in charge of arrangements.
