The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ July 20. 2005 11:55AM Warren Hecard Warren "Tommy Warren" Hecard, 61, a native of New Orleans, former resident of Thibodaux for 20 years and resident of Marrero, died July 18, 2005. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Joubert Hecard; son, Christopher Hecard; daughter, Gina H. Smith; stepdaughters, Angela Raines, Kristie Daigle and Kelly Cookmeyer; brother, Lloyd J. Hecard; and three grandchildren. H was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Gladys C. Hecard; and a grandchild. He was a retired MetLife agent. He was a published singer and songwriter and wrong the song "Offshore Blues." He was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Westbank Musician's Hall of Fame in 2003. He received All State honors as a baseball player and All District honors as a basketball player at West Jefferson High School. At Nicholls State University, he was Most Valuable Player, team captain, leading hitter and the first NSU baseball player to earn first team all conference honors. He was alumni association presented and later served as director of alumni affairs at NSU for two years. Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangemetns.
