A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose, with burial in the church mausoleum. He is survived by his wife of six years, Charlotte Lachicotte of Baton Rouge; sons and daughters-in-law Clarence J. Savoie II and Penney Francis of Paincourtville, Charles C. Savoie Jr. and Kathleen Naylor of Belle Rose and Rufus H. Savoie and Karen Granier of Belle Rose; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly S. Hunley of Covington, Ida S. and Martin Edlefsen of Thibodaux, Charleen S. and Dr. James Holder of Gardenerville, Nev., Prado S. Richard of Baton Rouge, Suzanne S. and James Tierney of Lafayette, Renee Savoie of Youngsville, Dr. Lucie S. and Dr. John Elfervig of Germantown, Tenn., and Marie S. and Sam Berry of Belle Rose; brother, Felix H. Savoie Sr. of Baton Rouge; sister Mildred S. Daigle of Paincourtville; 37 grandchildren; and 29 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 61 years and mother of his children Ursula Prados Savoie; parents Hon. C. J. Savoie Sr. and Celine Dugas Savoie; sons-in-law Burt H. Hunley and Patrick Richard; grandchildren John Lars Elfervig II and Angel Rebecca Berry; brothers Sabin J., Clarence J. Jr., Felix J. and Joseph Savoie; sisters Sartola S. Cancienne, Isabel Marie Savoie and Adeline Marie Savoie. He was past president of Savoie Industries and Dugas and LeBlanc LTD and past engineer with Lula and Westfield Sugar Factories in Belle Rose. He spent most of his life in Belle Rose. He graduated from St. Joseph Comercial Institute in Donaldsonville in 1930, attended Tulane University and Delgado Trade School and graduated from LSU in 1936 with a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. He was past president of the American Society of Sugar Cane Technologists and American Sugar Cane League, chairman of the board and engineer of the Fresh Water District of Assumption Parish and former board member of Assumption Bank and Trust Co. and the Bank of Commerce. He served as King Sucrose XVIII of the Sugar Cane Festival in New Iberia. He was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose and Our Lady of Merci Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, the Knights of St. Gregory and the Knights of Columbus.
