Pitre, 79, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 4:20 a.m. Aug. 14, 2005. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at the Hebert Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Vilma F. Pitre; sons, Michael "T-Black" Pitre; daughter, Nadine Pitre; brothers Leo "Blackie" Pitre, Claude Pitre and Ecland Pitre Jr.; brother, Harris Pitre; sisters, Lelia Pitre, Norma Pitre Gisclair, Velma "Sweet" Pitre and Inez Pitre Richoux. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was a World War II veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was retired, His hobbies were fishing, trawling and handyman work.
