Arcement, 87, a native of Raceland and longtime resident of Houma, died Aug. 23, 2005, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Richard A. "Dickie" Arcement, Floyd F. "Buster and Julie Arcement of Houma; daughters and sons-in-law Janice and Kenneith Hebert, Elaine and Lionel J. Grabert, Martha and Ralph Longman, Mary and David Plaisance, Nancy and Freeman Collins; grandchildren and their spouses Grant E. Hebert of Tampa, Fla., Kim and Walt Applewhite and Rayan Hebert of Houma, Robyn M. Grabert of Houma, Marie and David Cole of Jeanerette, Catherine and Ryan Viator of Houma, Elizabeth and Anne Longman of Franklin, Christie Plaisance of New Orleans, Carrie, Leslie and Lindie Plaisance of Raceland, Andrew and Philip Arcement of Houma, Eric and Mark Collins of Bourg; great-grandchildren, Blake and Dylan Pepper and Whitney Applewhite of Houma, Amelia and Sadie Viator of Houma, Christine and Chandler Cole of Jeanerette, Devin Cantu and Hilary Plaisance of Raceland; sisters, Alice Arceneaux and Doris Lagarde of Raceland and Barbara Troscler of Brice City; and brother Francis Arcement of Raceland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eulah Walker Arcement; parents, Armand and Adeline Arcement; and brothers Armand, Ashton and Earl Arcement, all of Raceland. He was retired from Texaco and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and was awarded the Bishop's Medal at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. His hobby was vegetable gardening. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
