Demere, 83, a native of Everglades, Fla., and resident of Golden Meadow, died at 1:25 p.m. Aug. 8, 2005. Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Lighthouse Worship Center in Cut Off. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the center, with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Stevens Demere; sons Delton and Damas Demere; daughter Bernice Kibodeaux; brothers Stanley and Richard Demere; sisters Fay Gooding, Peggy Gooding and Betty Goff; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, St. Clair and Exie Hamilton Demere; grandson Gordon Kibodeaux; and sister Estelle Brown. He was Pentecostal and a member of the Lighthouse Worship Center. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to church. He was a retired fisherman. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
