The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ August 23. 2005 12:46PM William Peltier [Photo] William Thomas "Bill" Peltier, A native and resident of Thibodaux and former resident of New Orleans, died Monday, Aug. 22, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center of complications from cancer. He was 45. He attended E.D. White Catholic High School in Thibodaux and received a business degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. He worked for several years at The Whitney Bank in its Trust department. While at The Whitney, he worked as a loan executive for the United Way and Junior Achievement. He was a volunteer at the NO/AIDS Task Force working as a hotline counselor. After leaving The Whitney, he ventured into the art business as a private dealer and collector specializing in southern self-taught folk art. He promoted the work of several local artists including France Folse, Charles Hutson, and Gertrude Morgan. As an aspiring artist himself, Peltier attended the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Grace Frost Peltier; sisters, Katherine Peltier Joffrion and Penny Peltier Tate; brothers, Stephen Peltier, John Edward Peltier, Tim Peltier, Dr. Michael Peltier, Allen Peltier, Dr. Henry Peltier; his partner, Brett Gautreaux; six brothers and sisters in law; 21 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and May Ayo Peltier and Clarence and Ouida Mai Folse Frost, and a brother, Dr. Donald Peltier Jr. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. A memorial service will be held at The Solarium of the Bultman Funeral Home, 3338 St. Charles Ave., in New Orleans on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. Contributions to NO/AIDS Task Force, 1407 Decatur St., New Orleans, LA 70116 are preferred.
