James, 62, a native of Plattenville and resident of Memphis, Tenn., died Sept. 7, 2005. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict the Moore Catholic Church in Napoleonville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Daggs Jones of Missouri City, Texas; daughters Tonya Hollaway of Labadieville and Ebony James of Memphis; sons Vernon James of Missouri City and Jermel James of Cypress, Texas; sisters Stella James of Houston, Loice Fredrick of San Antonio, Texas, Diana Owens and Dinah Douglas of Bertrandville, Evelyn Watts and Barbera Nelson of Paincourtville, Edith Harris and Darlene James of Plattenville; brothers Irvin and Larry James of Plattenville, Alvin James of Belle Rose, Calvin James of Houston and Keith Douglas of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Hazel Smtih James; brothers Israel James Sr. and Louis James; and sister Louella James Preston.
