Mercedes Duplantis

Mercedes LeCompte Duplantis, 79, a native and resident of Chauvin, died at 8:55 
p.m. Sept. 19, 2005.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. A 
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 5 p.m. today at the church, with 
burial at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her sons Lloyd Jr., Eric, Anthony, Peter, Patrick and Elias 
Duplantis; daughters Angela D. Taylor, Denise Nubani and Alida Cochran; brother 
Odis LeCompte; sisters Leah Use' and Mariam Naquin; 34 grandchildren; and 25 
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. Duplantis Sr.; parents, 
Roosevelt Sr. and Celeste Bergeron LeCompte; brothers Roosevelt J. "Buddie" Jr. 
and Jacob LeCompte Sr.

She was Catholic.

She was a member of Terrebonne Homemakers Dames de Chauvin and the St. Joseph 
Choir.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, crochet, raising African violets, playing Scrabble 
and cooking.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
