Roy Sobert

Roy L. Sobert, 85, a native of Labadieville and resident of Thibodaux, died 
Sept. 23, 2005.

Visitation will be 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Co-cathedral Life Center 
in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday 
at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Sobert; son Roy Sobert; daughter Judy Soignier; 
grandchildren Angele S. Coffman and Andrew Soignier; great-grandchildren 
Nicholas Soignier, Olivia and Max Coffman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andre' A. and Judith Melancon Sobert; 
brothers John, Andrew, Henry, Robert Sobert; and sister Julie Boudreaux.

He served as a member fo the Lafourche Parish School Board for 32 years from 
Dec. 1962 to Dec. 1994. He served as president of the school board from Jan. 
1981 to Dec. 1990.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lafourche Crossing 308 Fire 
Department, Woodmen of the World and the Independent Athletic Club.

Donations to charity are preferred.

Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
