Melancon, 85, a native of Lockport and resident of Cut Off, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005. Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, with burial at the church cemetery. She is survived by her sons James, Vincent and Kenneth Melancon; daughter Mary Ann Melancon; brother Roland Badeaux; sisters Velma B. Orgeron and Nolena B. Detillier; five grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Paul Melancon; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alcibiade Badeaux; son Lester Melancon Jr.; brothers Hayes and Clarence Badeaux; and sisters Celica LeBlanc, Ida Mae Savoie, Elise Belanger, Annie Richard and Helen LeBlanc. She was a Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing cards and watching television. Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
