Lionel "Joe" Menard Jr., 59, a native of Kaplan and resident of Raceland, died at 12:13 p.m. Oct. 17, 2005.

Visitation will be 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic 
Church and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in 
Kaplan. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 
St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, with burial at Mire Cemetery in Kaplan.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Menard; mother, Alice Menard; sons Dwayne, 
Scotty and Corey Menard; brother Jackie Menard; sisters Brenda Leger and Deane 
Thibodeaux; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lionel Menard Sr.; daughter Cindy 
Menard; brother Rodney Menard; and sister Charlene Menard.

He was a U.S. Marines veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW. He 
enjoyed spoiling his children and grandchildren, riding horses and fishing.

He was employed by Hutco.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
