The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ October 07. 2005 12:00AM Ruth Thompson Ruth Ann Thompson, 60, a native and resident of Raceland, died at 2:41 a.m. Oct. 4, 2005, at St. Anne General Hospital. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Raceland. The Religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in the Morristown Benevolent Cemetery in Raceland. She is survived by her father, Joseph Poindexter Sr., of Raceland; daughter, Lori Thompson, and adopted daughter, Erica Poindexter, both of Raceland; sisters Mary Poindexter, Brenda Joseph, Sharon Davis, and Emelda Taplin of Raceland, and Alice Washington of Boutte; brothers Joseph Jr., Isiah, Curtis, Sterling and Ronald Poindexter all of Raceland; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Thompson; her mother, Lula Mae Poindexter; son, Johnny Thompson; and sister, Gloria Johnson. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and served on the Deaconess Board and was a Choir member. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking and watching T.V. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
