A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville, with burial at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Port Hudson. He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Thrift of New Orleans; daughters Carla Thrift, Christine Thrift and Dwanda Thrift Powell, all of New Orleans; son Carl Thrift Jr. of New Orleans; sisters Barbara Thrift-Collins of Los Angeles and Ida Thrift of Van Nuys, Calif.; brothers Clyde Thrift of New Orleans and J.C. Thrift of Alexandria, Va.; sisters-in-law Connie and Jimmie-Nell; partners Brenda and Alecia; grandchildren Chelsey and Glenn Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thrift Sr. Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville is in charge of arrangements.
