Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews, with burial at St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery in Raceland. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law James H. Jr. and Laura Minchew and Brian J. and Lauren Minchew; daughters and sons-in-law Carol A. Minchew and companion Joe Guidry, Donna M. and Taylor Bouvier, Tina M. and James Fontana, Trudy A. and Travis Thibodaux; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn B. Matherne Minchew; parents, Henry L. and Etta Minchew; daughter Tammy L. Minchew; brother Charles Mason Minchew; four grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He served in the National Guard. He was a retired employee of Avondale Shipyards. He was a member of the Raceland Lions Club. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
