Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. A religious service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Thibodaux, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy LaNell Van Matre; son and daughter-in-law Robert Mark and Danyel Van Matre; daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy Kim Van Matre and Bryan Marcel, Christina Van Matre Oubre and Todd Oubre; brothers Harvey and Johnny Van Matre, both of Texas and Bill and Joseph Van Matre; sisters, Alice Campbell of Louisiana, Dora Ellen Harper, Margie Shradder, Clara Ruth Van Matre of Texas and Lois Hodgson of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brittany, Dylan, Robert Jr., and Ryan Van Matre, Jada, Joshua, Jayla, Joshlynn and Jayden Oubre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Mammie Bunch Van Matre; son James Lee Van Matre; and brothers, Ralph and Clovis Van Matre, both of Texas.
