Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elise Ellender Labat of Montegut; sons, Paul Labat of Houma, Malcolm Labat and wife, Peggy, of Bayou Blue and Curtis Labat and wife, Kay, of Thibodaux; and grandchildren, Dustin Labat, Michael Labat and Matthew Labat. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Labat and Valerine Dupre Labat; brothers, Louis Labat and John Labat; and sisters, Aline LeBlanc, Della Matherne, Alma Kurtz and Ada Labat. He was a retired roustabout with Texaco and owned Al's Texaco in Montegut for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 272, Holy Name Society of Montegut and a past member of the Tri Parish Service Station Association. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
