Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with burial at St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery in Houma. He is survived by his wife, Lois Alice Baker Collins of Houma; sons, Charles Baker Collins, Thomas Collins and Glen Collins of Morgan City; sister, Clara LeBouef of Lafayette; eight grandchildren; and several great- and great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Clay Collins Sr. and Irene Maria Theriot Collins; son, James Mel Collins; brothers, Harold, Authur and Tom Collins; and sister, Ruth Jarrell. He was a former Terrebonne Parish School Board president. Donations to the Terrebonne Special Olympics are preferred. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
