Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at New St. Matthews Baptist Church in Houma. A religious service will be held at 11 a.m Saturday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Sterling Poindexter Sr. of Raceland; mother, Annette W. Celestine of Raceland; sons, Sterling Poindexter Jr., Jeffrey Poindexter, and Johnny Poindexter, all of Raceland; daughter, Christina Marie Poindexter of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Leonard Celestine Jr. and Eddie Celestine of Houma, Benjamin Celestine and Jessie Celestine of Beaumont, Texas, and Mack Celestine of Raceland; sisters, Audrey Mae Pardo of Avondale, Cecilia Celestine of Bridge City and Liza Ann Smith of Houma; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Leonard Celestine Sr; son, Sterling Joseph Poindexter; and brothers, Raymond Lee Celestine and Wilbert Celestine Sr. She was a member of New St. Matthews Baptist Church, and was a member of the choir and served on the usher board. Her hobbies included shopping. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
