Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at New Zion Baptist Church in Houma. A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at Blue Lilly Cemetery. He is survived by his companion, Tabitha Tillman of Houma; father, Dalton "Tracy" James of Thibodaux; sons, Al Jerome James Jr. and Alvin James, both of Houma, Al Craig, Travis Craig, both of New Orleans; stepson, Deronte Tillman of Houma; daughters, Aljenna James, Cierra Craig, both of Houma, Angela Craig and Daniell Craig, both of New Orleans; stepdaughters, Alexias Tillman, Tanesha Tillman and Tamesha Tillman, all of Houma; brothers, Kenneth James of Raceland, Keith, Elroy, Donald, Andrew, Dalton, Randy and Harry James, all of Thibodaux and Derrick James of Houma; sisters, Vera Thompson of Labadieville, Calamity James, Joyce Gage, Alberta James, Cynthia James, Audrey Mae James and Valery James, all of Thibodaux; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Brooks James; brother, Jessie James; and sister, Barbara James. He was Baptist. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
