The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ February 26. 2005 1:14AM Cynthia LaFontaine Cynthia Gravois LaFontaine, 73, a native of Edgard and resident of Raceland, died at 3:24 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Raceland. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego. She is survived by one son, Dennis Eugene LaFontaine of Raceland; three daughters, Cynthia Anne Baughman and husband, Johnny Ray Baughman Sr. of Collins, Miss., Denise Barlow and husband, Hilary "Cat" Barlow of Ville Platte and Linda LaFontaine of Raceland; two brothers, F.D. Gravois Jr. and John Mire Gravois; two sisters, Gloria Gravois Hicks and Maude Gravois Cheramie; nine grandchildren, Norman Thomas LaFontaine, Jamie Lynn Baughman Clemons, Johnny Ray Baughman Jr., Virginia Lee, Jeremy Lee, Logan Mikel Baughman, Elveria Marie Barlow, Anthony S. Gordes Jr. and Brittany Fawn Cordes; and three great- grandchildren, Anthony Davis Ordoyne, Linda Miriam and Preston Clemons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Thomas LaFontaine; her parents, Francois D. Gravois Sr. and Iola Landry Gravois; two brothers, James Walter Gravois S.J., and Jerome Julius Gravois; and one sister, Adele Lucie Gravois. She is remembered fondly by many as "Memere", the main caregiver at Memere's Care, a children's daycare center that operated for several years in the Lockport/Mathews area. She loved to crochet and work needlepoint, especially on plastic canvas. She was a Laurel Valley volunteer and was a Marine Corps League Ladies Auxiliary member.
