Cheramie, 74, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano, died at 11:16 a.m. Feb. 13, 2005. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at Cheramie Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mirabell Chouest Cheramie; sons, John and Farrel Cheramie; daughters, Roxanne Cheramie, Jessica Kirkley and Stephanie Collins; brothers, Charlie and Albert Cheramie; sister, Ismay Theriot; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Collins Cheramie; parents, Roudolph and Augusta Gaspard Cheramie; brothers, Leonard, Alex and George Cheramie; sisters, Sedonia Boudreaux, Leonise Cheramie, Rosa Doucet, Leonore Mozley, Rosalie Boudreaux and Irene Raymond. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Marines Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
