Rita Matherne

Rita Mary Matherne, 82, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died at 10:47 
a.m. Feb. 10, 2005.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des 
Alleamdns. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 
the church, with burial at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Don G. Matherne Sr. and Derace J. Matherne; 
daughters, Janice Matherne, Fay Granier, Peggy Frickey, rose Frickey, Maude D. 
Carlo, Catherine Breaux and Trudy Granier; brothers, Merlin, Arthur and John 
Schaubhut; sister, Lillian Dufrene; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 
and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardon T. Matherne; parents, Arthur and 
Rose Christen Schaubhut; brother, Etwyn Schaubhut; sister, Vivian Rogers; and a 
grandchild.

She was a parishioner of St. Gertrude Catholic Church and a member of the church 
altar society.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
