J.B. Garlington, 87, a native of Pitkin and resident of Lockport, died at 1:45 
p.m. Jan. 14, 2005.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Holy Savior 
Catholic Church in Lockport, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his daughters, Betty G. LeBlanc and husband, Jeffrey LeBlanc 
Jr., and Sandra G. Degruise and husband, Blaine Degruise; and grandchildren, 
Michelle LeBlanc, Ben LeBlanc and wife, Jessica, Jacob LeBlanc, Jon Degruise and 
Amanda Degruise.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle M. Garlington; parents, W.N. and 
Amanda M. Garlington; brother, Newton Garlington; and sisters, Vina Woodard, 
Cordia Smith and Rilla Lacaze.

He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church and was a U.S. Army veteran 
of World War II. He was a member of the 6th Armored Division, a veteran of the 
European Campaign, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the 
liberation of Bastogne. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 83 of 
Lockport and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Raceland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lockport Lower or Lockport Upper 
elementary schools.
