Wallace, 83, a native and resident of Thibodaux, Jan. 14, 2005. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Thibodaux. The wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Church. The religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Moses Baptist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Pradd Wallace of Thibodaux; daughters, Jacqueline W. Malcolm and Beatrice L. Wallace of Thibodaux; son, Lloyd H. Wallace Jr., of Mission Hills, Calif; son-in-law, Philip N. Malcolm Jr. of Thibodaux; daughter-in-law, Lonnie Dixon Wallace of Mission Hills, Calif; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Charles W. and Leona Ricks Wallace; and oe sister, Anita Wallace. He was pastor emeritus of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was retired after serving 40 years as an educator for the Lafourche Parish School System. He was also a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal of Valor during his tour. Professional and civic affiliations include his service as parliamentarian, 5th District Baptist Association; member, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; member, American Association of Retired Person; past commander American Legion Post 513 and member since 1945; past member, Association for Supervision and Curriculum; area coordinator, Common Cause; board member Habitat for Humanity; founder and board member, Kiddie Kare Day Care Center; founder and past treasurer Lafeda Federal Credit Union; founder and past chair, Lafourche Black Caucus; past executive director and past board member Lafourche Community Action Agency; board chair and charter member, Lafourche Community Housing and Economic Development Organization; board member, Lafourche First; past president, Lafourche Parish Education Association; past president, Leland College Alumni Federation; past 2nd vice president, Louisiana Education Association; member, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association; member Louisiana State Baptist Convention; past chapter president, Executive Committee member, and life member, NAACP; member, National Baptist Convention U.S.A.
