"Doc" Weller, 79, a native of Dewitt, Iowa and resident of Thibodaux, died at 11:35 p.m. Jan. 2, 2005. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. A religious service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. He is survived by his companion, Janis Schoef; former wife, Loretta Weller; sons, Tim Weller of Baton Rouge and Ted Weller of Thibodaux; daughters, Cindy Boudreaux of Fountain, Colo., and Wendy Baker of Napoleonville; brother, Bill Weller of Colorado; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Weller; son, Robert Weller Jr.; brothers, Ernest and Vernon Weller; and sisters, Irene, Lillian and Florence. He was one of the state's first chiropractors and a member of the first State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He was educated at Palmer College of Chriopractic. He served as secretary-treasurer for 25 years of the Chriropractic Association of Louisiana. He helped numerous patients and mentored many chiropractic physicians in his 52 years of practice. His office is still in operation today run by his son, Ted Weller. He was a member of the Masonic Unity Lodge 267 since the 1970s. He founded Gatorville USA 15 years ago and operated it until his death. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
