Visitation will be 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Vacherie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Simon Hymel; son, Curtis P. Hymel; daughters, Nadine H. Delatte, Pamela H. Zeringue, Marie H. Dufresne and Jeanne H. Landry; brothers, Russell A. and Huey Hymel; sisters, Yolande Waguespack, Irma Marchadie, Rowena Lablat, Geraldine Becnel, Faye Troxclair, Elaine Troxclair and Frances Poirrier; grandchildren, Janine Hymel, Heather Snyder, Marjorie Delaune, Mathew Zeringue, Noelie Calabro, Alex Zeringue, Andrew, Elizabeth and Henri Dufresne, Christopher Gravois, Michael and Jacob Rahm; step-grandchildren, Julia and Curtis Grenier; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dozilia J. and Marie Waguespack Hymel; sisters, Marguerite H. Bourgeois, Leonie T. Hymel and Elsie Zeringue; and brother, Richard Hymel. He was a retired employee of Kaiser in Gramercy and a former employee of Southdown Sugars. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Donations to charity are preferred.
