Herschel Owens						[Photo]

Herschel Kareem Abdul Jabar Romel Owens, 22, a native of Thibodaux and resident 
of Baton Rouge, died June, 17, 2005 at Lady of The Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. 
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at New St. Mathews Missionary Baptist 
Church in Mathews. A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. 
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by a very devoted friend, LaMekia Pierre of Baton Rouge; mother, 
Evetta W. Owens of Thibodaux; daughters, A'mya R'mya Owens, and A'nya E'myne 
Owens both of Baton Rouge; brothers, Alexander M. Williams and wife Anastasia D. 
Williams of Brooklyn, New York, Robert H. Williams of Houma, Andra Owens, and 
Fredrick Owens, Renard Richard of Thibodaux and Steven Owens Jr. of Houston; 
sister, Carrie Owens of Nashville, Tenn., two godchildren, Treneshia Duncan of 
Thibodaux and Ja'miah Williams of Harvey; grandmother, Josephine Atkins Williams 
of Thibodaux; is also survived by 10 aunts, 9 uncles and a host of nieces, 
nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Owens Sr., grandparents, Henry 
Williams; Elvina Shanklin Owens, and Henry Owens Sr.

He was Baptist. His hobbies included reading, and listening to music.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
