Lionel Owens Sr.					[Photo]

Lionel James Owens Sr, 73, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died at 1 a.m. 
June 25, 2005.

Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in 
Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at 
the church, with burial at Allen Chapel AME Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.

He is survived by his sons, Darrel Owens and Troy Jacquot of Thibodaux and 
Lionel J. Owens Jr. of Marrero; daughters, Ava Washington and Dejaun Nixon of 
Thibodaux, and Demetria Hays of San Diego, Calif; brothers, Millage and Henry 
Owens Jr. of Thibodaux; sisters, Carolyn Owens, Alma Douglas, and Vera Oliver 
all of Thibodaux; 30 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy W. Owens parents, Henry Owens Sr., 
and Elvina S. Owens; son, Don Frye; brothers, Jimmy Owens, Billy Owens, Steven 
Owens, and Morell Owens; sisters, Dorothy Mae Owens, and Velma Owens.

He was a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. He was also a United 
States Army Veteran.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
