The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ June 30. 2005 11:46AM Lowitta Watkins [Photo] Lowitta Marie Watkins (St. Pierre), born Oct. 27, 1928, passed to a higher place on June 17, 2005, from Pancreas Cancer. "Lou Loot" was at home surrounded by her loving family. She entered heaven on her own terms. A wonderful wife, caring mother, adoring grandmother and great grandmother, Lou Loot held her family together through good and bad times. She made it "work". Lou Loot was preceded in death by her father, Edmond St. Pierre. She is survived by her adoring husband, William, three daughters; Yvette, Elizabeth (Pensacola) and Rachel, two grandchildren; Kurt (Dana) and April Bellow, great granddaughter Kylie, mother Eve St. Pierre, siblings; "Snake" (Tony), "Calliou" (Helen), Melva (Tom) and Lorena (Hank), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lou was a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Gretna for 47 yrs. Lou Loot will be best remembered for her unconditional love, devout Catholic faith, love of shopping, gardening, sweeping, supporter of all endeavors and her seafood Gumbo. She was a gifted artist filling her and Bill's home with almost 200 paintings. In Lou Loot's lifetime she was a telephone operator, certified lifeguard, swimming instructor, excellent tennis player and family photographer. Lou Loot loved to hike in the Smoky Mountains and walk the beaches of Pensacola/Perdido Key hunting for shells but most of all Lou Loot loved her family and extended family. Lou Loot became an "adopted" mom for many of her 3 daughter's and 2 grandchildren's friends. No matter what the decade or what her age, Lou Loot was always "right in time" with fashion and music. She enjoyed numerous concerts with her daughters including Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Bette Midler, Tina Turner and several Jazz Fests. Lou Loot enjoyed going to her daughters' band gigs, no matter what the venue. She would dance the night away. Lou Loot would always "go with the flow"! She will be missed but her memory will remain a constant flame in our heart. A Celebration of Life took place on June 18, 2005 at her home in Gretna. A special thank you to the staff of Serenity Hospice. In lieu of a wreath please plant a flower or plant in Lou Loot's memory or make a donation to the American Red Cross or Hospice.
