His body was donated to Tulane University Medical Center for medical education and research. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church in Houma at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Daigle Vaccaro; two sons, Paul Gerald Vaccaro Jr. of Radford, Va., and Michael Joseph Vaccaro of Niceville, Fla.; one daughter, Gina Maria Vaccaro of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters-in-law, Penny Triana Vaccaro and Sally Rusho Vaccaro; four grandchildren, Andrew Triana Vaccaro, Gabriella Anne Vaccaro, Laurel Elizabeth Vaccaro and Catherine Elaine Vaccaro; his mother, Genevieve Gotto Vaccaro of Crystal City, Mo.; one brother, William Vaccaro of Crystal City; two sisters, Theresa Pulliam of St. Louis and Elizabeth White of St. Louis; and his mother-in-law, Odessa Jolet Daigle of Houma. He was preceded in death by his father, Joquimo Vaccaro; one brother, Mark Vaccaro; and his father in-law, Irving P. Daigle. He is a retired Nicholls State University Assistant Professor of English, 4-year Nicholls State University letterman in basketball and baseball and past Grand Knight of St. Bernadette Knight of Columbus No. 7355. Special interests include golf, listening to classical music, crossword puzzles, snow skiing, reading and gardening.
