A wake service will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at Holy Family Church in Luling. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Baudoin Matherne; children, Todd Matherne of Houston, Craig Matherne of Luling, Amy Simoneaux of Luling, Susan Gaubert of Luling, Alan Meynard of Destrehan, Vince Matherne II of Atlanta, Brett Matherne of Dayton, Ohio and Cindy Muller of Houston; siblings, Clothilde Dempster of Des Allemands, Carrie Loupe of Des Allemands, Martha Carlos of Luling, Landry Matherne of Des Allemands; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Matherne Meynard; and parents, Roger A. and Bertha Cortez Matherne. He founded Sportsman's Cove and was active with United Way, Rotary of St. Charles and Holy Family Catholic Church. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
