The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ================================ March 30. 2005 3:25PM Alvin Verdin [Photo] Alvin Gregoir Verdin, 77, a native of Montegut and resident of Pointe aux Chenes, died at 11 a.m. March 29, 2005. Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Pointe aux Chenes Fire Station. A religious service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Live Oak Baptist Church in Pointe aux Chenes, with burial at St. Ann Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Walterine Hotard Verdin of Pointe aux Chenes; sons, Jerome Verdin of Perkington, Miss., Rodney Verdin of Houma, Robert Verdin of Wiggins, Miss., Kenneth Verdin of Bayou Blue and Leon Verdin of Mobile, Ala.; daughters, Nancy Duplantis, Connie Verdin and Irby Naquin, all of Montegut; brothers, Andrew Verdin of Golden Meadow, Widles "Wallace" Verdin of Bourg, Ebro Verdin and Cleveland Verdin of Montegut; sisters, Pearl Ledet of Bayou Blue, Dolia Kenan of St. Rose, Arlene Naquin, Esther Billiot and Shirley Verdin of Montegut and Bridget Chappel of Murphy, N. C.; and 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Desire' Verdin and Antoinette Dardar Verdin; brother, Dave Verdin; and sister, Clara Billiot. He was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of arrangements.
