Toups, 101, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Raceland, died at 4:30 p.m. March 4, 2005. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland, with burial at St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Franklin D. Toups of Elizabeth, Colo; daughter, Emily Toups D'Arcangelo of Raceland; brothers, Carl Toups of Boutte and Donald Toups of Thibodaux; sisters, Evelyn Toups Comeaux of Opelousas and Lucille Toups Rhodes of Houma; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris F. Guidroz Toups; parents, Sylvester and Emilie Thibodaux Toups; brothers, Lynn and Brother Blaise Toups, S.C.; and sisters, Lean Toups Rau and Yvonne Toups Uzee. He was a major in the U.S. Army during World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 349, a charter member of the Raceland Lions Club, a member of the Raceland Fire Department, a member of the board of directors of Raceland Bank, Lafourche National Bank and Ariel Company, Inc., a former member of the Happy Mixers League of Houma. Donations to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, 4540 Elysian Fields Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122 in memory of D.D. Toups and Brother Blaise Toups, S.C., Att: Brenda DiGiovanni are preferred.
