John "Unca John" Marion Matthews Jr., 77, a native of Paluxy, Texas and resident 
of Houma, died at 8:56 a.m. March 24, 2005.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home chapel. A 
memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

He is survived by his sons, James of Houma and John Pat of Maryland; and stepson 
Fred Matthews of Washington; brothers, Robert E. of Seminok, Texas, Gail of 
California and Lowell Matthews of Houston; sister, Margaret Hudson of Hobbs, 
N.M.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mayfield Matthews; parents, John 
Marion Sr. and Ida Locke Matthews; son, David Matthews; daughter, Sandra K. 
Joyce; brothers, George and Cleo Matthews; and sister, Geneva Emerson.

He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. 
Navy and was a retired mud engineer.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
