Diket, 86, a beloved member of the community, died May 20, 2005. She was a native of Jersey City, N.J., and a longtime resident of Thibodaux. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Thibodaux with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Her body was donated to science. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Olivia Diket of Las Vegas; sons, Jeffrey Henry Diket of Algiers, Christopher Maximilian Diket of Thibodaux, Dr. Albert Lewie Diket Jr. of New Orleans; and grandchildren, John Albert Diket, Jessica Gilchrist Diket, Miriam Margaret Diket, Audrey Melissa Diket, David Christopher Diket and Emily Kathryn Diket. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Birdie; and her husband, Dr. Albert Lewie Diket. She was a vital member of the community and an active volunteer for many service organizations. She dedicated her public life to helping others and her private life to supporting her family. Through the years she held various offices in the following organizations: World War II air raid warden, Thalia Mardi Gras Crew, Hospital Auxiliary, Thibodaux Music Club, Friends of the Library, Nicholls State University Women's Faculty and the Republican Women's Club. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Thibodaux Music Club Music and Arts in the Schools, PO Box 1854, Thibodaux, LA 70302.
