Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Rose Signorelli Simmons Landry of Thibodaux; brother, Nelson T. Simmons of Palm Springs, Calif.; sister, Connie Simmons Thornton of Napoleonville; brother-in-law, V. Ray Thornton III of Napoleonville; niece, Jessica L. Thornton of New Orleans; nephew and godchild, Jeremy M. Thornton of Starkville, Miss.; and godchild, April Hernandez of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde J. Simmons; stepfather, Ambroise H. Landry; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Simmons Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Signorelli. Upon her completion of her education she moved to Baton Rouge. She spent 27 wonderful years there, having made many dear friends. She was employed for 26 years by the Louisiana Department of Health and Human Resources, Department of Social Services, Division of Budget and Planning. After her retirement, she moved to Winston Salem, N.C., where she lived for six years. During that time, she met many wonderful people and became great friends with many. Landry's Funeral Home of Napoleonville is in charge of arrangements.
